Think of a 3 story home; wealthy citizens are on the top floor, middle class citizens are on the 2nd floor and poor citzens are on the 1st floor; however, there are no stairs. Everyone wants to be on the 3rd floor. So the poor and the middle class work hard and earn income (steps) so that they can build a stairway to the next floor.
